Major Updates - July 2020
Ciao a Tutti!
We haven’t posted news in quite some time. Obviously, we were forced into downtime like the rest of the world, but we have been productive nonetheless.
Web Updates
As you can probably see, we have updated this website. We hope the simplified navigation makes it much easier for you to browse all of the info here. The new design focuses attention on our favorite graphic - the “F Guy” (we call it “Effe”) originally created in the 1930’s. If you are unfamiliar with Effe, take a look at the images on this series of postcards released by FILM Ferrania in the past (click to enlarge).
We have also posted a major update for all of our Kickstarter Backers. If you are a Backer, it’s most urgent you read that post in full.
For everyone else, here are the major highlights:
The Rest of 2020
The Good News:
We are coating film right now (July 2020) that will become P30 in 120 format!. This first batch of P30 120 will begin shipping this fall.
By the end of this year, we expect to finish the installation and testing of our own 120 finishing machines and we will immediately begin making 120 rolls entirely in-house!
The Bad News:
Thanks to the virus, our in-house 35mm converting facility will not reach a full capability until early 2021. Until then, we have a hard cap on the number of 35mm rolls we can release for sale in any given month.
This means that 35mm film will continue to be in short supply, but we will continue to do our best to get it out to shops around the world.
The Future
Next year, we have ambitious plans. We will flesh out our P30 line with additional speeds and formats - including cinema films. We will restart our work on color film. We will continue the process of installing the equipment that allows us to further automate all parts of production.
